Dan started in Law Enforcement in 1985 and graduated from Golden West Criminal Justice Training Center. He then worked undercover for Fountain Valley Police Department in a local Orange County High School and uncovered those students and the dealers supplying, using, and distributing narcotics. Mr. O’Neal was then a Sworn Reserve Police Officer  with the City of Barstow and worked as a Deep Cover Narcotics Officer.  It was his job to uncover those persons trafficking narcotics within the City. Mr. O’Neal also assisted in the investigation of two homicides while employed with the City and was involved in the serving of Search Warrants and Arrests that resulted from his undercover status.  He has recently re-qualified at Rio Hondo Criminal Justice Training Center to make sure all his California POST (Police Officer’s Standards and Training) certificates are current:

  • Arrest and Control Techniques
  • Baton
  • Chemical Agents
  • Defensive Driving
  • Use of Force
  • Domestic Violence
  • Search and Seizure
  • Weapons Violations
  • CPR
  • First Aid

He also maintains a current Guard Card and Fire Arms Permit with the State of California. Mr. O’Neal started attending CATS and saw the dedicated and positive work that is being done and wanted to get involved. Through many hours of training and working closely with the staff,  Mr. O’Neal is now one of our most recent Instructors here at CATS.  He is always striving to maintain his tactics and perishable skills and has a desire to help train new students on proper handling and safe use of fire arms. He donates approximately 250 hours of time per year to training newcomer and veteran shooters.

  • NRA Pistol Instructor Certified = 16 hours
  • DOJ Pistol Instructor Certified
  • NRA Range Safety Officer Certified = 8 hours
  • Level I Handgun = 16 hours
  • Level II Handgun = 16 hours
  • Tactical Rifle= 8 hours
  • IPDS C.A.R = 8 hours
  • Night and low light shooting = 6 hours
  • AFT (Advanced Fire Arms Training) = 8 hours

Mr. O’Neal is a firm believer of our Second Amendment rights and wants to help out and train others and pass along the positive spirit behind those rights as they were intended. He has seen that more people need to step up and out and be heard on this very important matter.
