Dave Kisler

Instructor

Dave is an instructor with Civilian Arms Training Source.

David Kisler was born in small town in Ohio. David’s Dad and Uncles fresh from World War II taught David to shoot a .22 caliber rifle at the age of 5 out on his Grandfathers farm. At the age of 8 years old, David received his first fire arm for Christmas, a Remington single shot, bolt action .22 caliber rifle.  At the age of 10 his family moved to the edge of town where he could walk out the back door with ten rounds in his pocket.

David has been shooting ever since. In 1997 David made his first trip to Frontsight in Parump, NV for the four day Defensive Pistol course. Attending the same course a dozen more times he was asked to go through the Frontsight Instructor Course, however, he didn’t become a Frontsight Instructor. In 2004 he attended Gunsight Academy in Paulden, AZ for a defensive pistol course. While on the California Rifle and Pistol Board of Directors David attended the NRA Basic Pistol Instructor course in Huntington Beach, CA and became a Certified NRA Basic Pistol Instructor and Range Safety Officer.

That same year he met Tim George at Civilian Arms Training Source at Prado Dam, CA. and attended the Level 1 class. Shortly thereafter he attended the Level 2 course. After seeing the value of the C.A.R. System he approached Tim about becoming an instructor for Civilian Arms Training Source. Tim agreed and David became C.A.R. Certified Instructor. David also is an active member of the International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) for competitive shooting.
